P0175: OBD-II code P0175 means the PCM is pulling significant fuel out on bank 2 but can't compensate — the engine is running rich and fuel trims are maxed out negative.

Symptoms

• Check engine light is on; black smoke from the exhaust, a raw fuel smell, and possible misfires.
• Fuel economy drops sharply and spark plugs may foul with black carbon after prolonged rich running.
• Catalytic converter overheat is a real risk if the code persists — a rich mixture damages the cat quickly.

Common causes

• A leaking or stuck-open fuel injector on bank 2 dumping extra fuel into the cylinders.
• A failed evaporative purge valve stuck open, feeding raw fuel vapour into the intake manifold.
• High fuel pressure from a stuck fuel pressure regulator, or a contaminated MAF sensor reading falsely high.

What to do?

Read bank 2 short and long-term fuel trims — deeply negative values confirm the rich condition. Check for stored EVAP codes; a stuck-open purge is common. Inspect injectors for external leaks or run an injector balance test. Verify fuel pressure with a gauge and check the pressure regulator's vacuum line for fuel.
