P0302: Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected

Symptoms

• Rough idle that smooths out at higher RPM
• Hesitation when accelerating
• Flashing check engine light under load
• Sulfur or raw fuel smell

Common causes

• Worn or fouled spark plug on cylinder 2
• Failing ignition coil on that cylinder
• Faulty or clogged fuel injector
• Low compression from valve or piston ring wear

What to do?

Swap the coil and spark plug from cylinder 2 with a neighbouring cylinder, clear the code, and drive. If the misfire follows the parts, you have your culprit. If it stays on cylinder 2, the injector or a compression issue is likely - run a compression or leakdown test.
