B2900: VIN Mismatch

Symptoms

  • Immobilizer system active; security light on solid
  • Certain modules (like radio or cluster) display "LOCKED"

Common causes

  • Installing a used, un-cleared salvage module from a different car
  • Incorrect VIN manual entry during a module programming event

What to do?

The module's stored VIN must match the vehicle's true VIN across the CAN bus network. Connect a proper diagnostic pass-thru tool and re-flash the module with the correct vehicle identification number using the manufacturer's subscription programming software.
