B1932: Driver Airbag Circuit Open - Loop #1

Symptoms

• SRS light permanently illuminated on the dashboard
• Driver frontal airbag completely disabled

Common causes

• Open circuit due to broken internal ribbon cable in the clock spring
• Unplugged or loose connector at the back of the driver's steering wheel airbag
• Corrosion or high resistance in the steering wheel wiring harness

What to do?

Ensure battery is completely disconnected. Check the connections behind the driver's airbag module. Use a specialized SRS simulator resistor tool to test the circuit loop; if the fault shifts to stored after adding the resistor, replace the defective clock spring.
