B1200: Climate Control Push Button Circuit Open

Symptoms

• Climate control buttons are completely unresponsive
• AC, heater, or fan speed settings cannot be changed

Common causes

• Faulty HVAC control head or button panel
• Broken or frayed wiring behind the center console
• Loose multi-pin connector on the rear of the climate panel

What to do?

Remove the center dash trim to expose the climate control unit. Verify that the rear connectors are plugged in securely. Use a multi-meter to check for continuity along the button wiring matrix; replace the HVAC control unit if internal circuit board damage is found.
