C1785: OBD-II code C1785 flags the ICCS2 damper right output shorted to ground — the right-side damper drive circuit is held permanently at 0 V.

MediumChassisICCS2 Damper Control

Symptoms

  • The 'Service Ride Control' warning is displayed and the ICCS2 module disables adaptive damping.
  • Ride quality on the right side may feel loose or under-damped because the actuator cannot be energised at all.
  • Multiple ICCS2 codes may set together because the module cannot control any of its outputs while one is shorted.

Common causes

  • A chafed right-output damper drive wire touching chassis ground — a common failure near suspension pivot points.
  • An internally shorted damper actuator pulling the drive line to ground.
  • A failed ICCS2 output driver internally shorted to ground, holding the output line low.

What to do?

Disconnect the right damper actuator and verify the drive wire has no continuity to ground with the connector unplugged. Measure the actuator coil resistance. Repair chafed wiring or replace the actuator. If wiring and actuator are good, the ICCS2 module has a failed output driver and needs replacement.
