C1744: OBD-II code C1744 flags a fault in the lift/dive discrete signal — the suspension control module isn't getting valid brake/throttle input for pitch-control.
LowChassisAir Suspension
Symptoms
- The 'Service Ride Control' warning is displayed and lift/dive damping compensation is disabled.
- The vehicle may dive more heavily under braking or squat more under acceleration than usual.
- The suspension still operates but without predictive brake and throttle inputs to stiffen dampers proactively.
Common causes
- A failed or misadjusted brake pedal switch feeding the discrete brake-apply signal to the suspension controller.
- Damaged wiring on the discrete brake or throttle signal line into the suspension control module.
- An input driver failure inside the suspension control module preventing it from reading the discrete signal.
What to do?
Verify the brake lamp switch operates cleanly and check for related brake-switch codes (C1291-C1295). Trace the discrete brake/throttle signal wire from the source to the suspension controller. Repair wiring, adjust or replace the switch, or replace the suspension controller as needed.
