C1254: OBD-II code C1254 means the EBCM detected an abnormal power interruption on its previous shutdown — usually a wiring or ignition issue, not an internal fault.

LowChassisAnti-Lock Brakes (ABS)

Symptoms

  • The ABS warning lamp may illuminate briefly after start-up while the code sets, then clear on its own on subsequent ignition cycles.
  • The code often appears alongside other module 'lost communication' codes because power was cut mid-drive.
  • ABS and stability control are typically fully functional once the ignition is cycled cleanly, unless a related fault is also present.

Common causes

  • A brief loss of EBCM battery voltage — dead battery, loose battery terminal, or blown fuse — that interrupted the module abnormally.
  • A poor ignition switch contact or intermittent power feed that cut power before the EBCM completed its shutdown routine.
  • A vehicle jump-start or battery disconnect performed with ignition on — this can latch the code on the next start-up.

What to do?

Inspect battery terminals for corrosion and tightness. Verify ignition and EBCM power feeds hold voltage during a start cycle. Clear the code and drive the vehicle normally — if C1254 returns without another root cause, look for an intermittent power supply issue at the EBCM connector or a failing ignition switch.
