C1650: OBD-II code C1650 flags an internal fault in the Real-Time Damping / RSS control module — the module has failed its own self-diagnostic test.

Symptoms

• The 'Service Ride Control' or similar suspension warning is displayed on the dashboard.
• Adaptive damping reverts to a default fixed setting on all four corners; ride quality feels less controlled than normal.
• The code will not clear with a normal scan-tool clear — it returns immediately if the internal fault persists.

Common causes

• A genuine internal RSS module failure that the module's diagnostic self-test has flagged.
• A low or unstable battery/ignition voltage repeatedly tripping the module's internal watchdog into a fault state.
• A software corruption in the RSS module that can sometimes be resolved with reprogramming rather than replacement.

What to do?

Verify RSS module power and ground with a DMM — both must be solid. Confirm battery voltage under load. If voltage is good and C1650 will not clear, the RSS module has failed and needs replacement, followed by full RSS system calibration.
