Turn your phone into an Audi OBD2 Scanner & Diagnostic App

Plug an OBD2 scanner into your Audi and Carista reads what the dealer sees — every warning light, live engine, transmission and turbo data, hidden settings like needle sweep and the start-up logo — across 37 Audi model lines, from the A1 to the R8.

About

Carista is a Bluetooth OBD2 scanner and phone app that gives Audi owners full-system diagnostics, live engine, transmission and turbo data, service tools like service indicator reset, battery registration and throttle body adaptation, and customizations like gauge needle sweep and disabling auto start/stop — across 37 Audi model lines — without a trip to the dealership or a PC-based tool like VCDS

12 of the most common Audi codes

These are standard SAE-defined diagnostic trouble codes that turn up most often across Carista's Audi lineup – the same codes a dealer's scan tool would show.

P0300

The engine is misfiring on several cylinders at random, often from worn spark plugs, bad ignition coils or a vacuum leak.

P0420

The catalytic converter isn’t cleaning the exhaust as well as it should, usually because it’s worn out

P0171

The engine is getting too much air for the fuel, usually because of a vacuum leak or a dirty air intake sensor.

P0299

The turbo isn’t producing enough boost, typically from a boost leak or a sticking wastegate.

P2015

The sensor on the intake flaps reports an out-of-range position, a well-known problem on VW Group diesels.

P0016

The crankshaft and camshaft are out of sync, often a sign of a stretched timing chain.

P0011

The intake camshaft timing is more advanced than the engine computer asked for, usually from low or dirty oil or a faulty timing control valve.

P0171

The engine is getting too much air for the fuel, usually because of a vacuum leak or a dirty air intake sensor.

P0234

The turbo is producing too much boost, often from a stuck wastegate or a faulty boost control valve.

P0087

Fuel pressure is too low, often from a weak fuel pump or a clogged fuel filter.

P17D8

Unverified. This is a brand-specific code (any code starting P1), so its meaning depends on the make, and I won’t guess.

P0299

The turbo isn’t producing enough boost, typically from a boost leak or a sticking wastegate.
