B0050: Driver Seatbelt Sensor Malfunction

Symptoms

• Seatbelt warning chime rings even when belted
• Seatbelt warning light stays on or fails to light up

Common causes

• Faulty microswitch inside the driver's seatbelt buckle assembly
• Broken or severed wiring under the driver's seat
• Debris or liquid spilled inside the buckle mechanism

What to do?

Check for debris or foreign objects trapped inside the seatbelt latch and clean it out. Inspect the wiring underneath the seat for signs of wear or disconnection. If wiring is fine, replace the seatbelt buckle assembly which houses the integrated microswitch.
