P0335: Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction

HighPowertrainEngine/Powertrain

Symptoms

  • Hard starting or no-start condition
  • Intermittent stalling while driving
  • Sudden loss of power
  • Tachometer drops to zero while running

Common causes

  • Failed crankshaft position sensor
  • Damaged sensor wiring or corroded connector
  • Metal debris stuck to the sensor tip
  • Damaged reluctor wheel on the crankshaft
  • PCM issue (rare)

What to do?

Inspect the connector for damage and check the sensor for metal fuzz on the tip (often picked up from clutch dust on manuals or transmission debris). Test the sensor signal with a scope or scan tool during cranking. Replacement is usually straightforward once confirmed.
