C1782: OBD-II code C1782 flags the ICCS2 damper left output shorted to battery voltage — the left-side damper drive circuit is held permanently energised.
MediumChassisICCS2 Damper Control
Symptoms
- The 'Service Ride Control' warning is displayed and the ICCS2 module disables adaptive damping.
- Ride quality on the left side may feel harshly stiff because the damper is held at maximum current.
- Multiple ICCS2 codes may set together because the module cannot control any of its outputs while one is shorted.
Common causes
- A chafed left-output damper drive wire touching a battery-voltage source — a common failure near suspension pivot points.
- An internally shorted damper actuator pulling the drive line high.
- A failed ICCS2 output driver stuck in the on state, keeping the drive line at battery voltage.
What to do?
Disconnect the left damper actuator and verify no B+ on the drive wire with the connector unplugged. Measure the actuator coil resistance. Repair chafed wiring or replace the actuator. If wiring and actuator are good, the ICCS2 module has a failed output driver and needs replacement.
