B2293: Airbag Status Error

Symptoms

• Airbag light flashing or staying solid on the instrument cluster
• Entire SRS safety framework in safety/shutdown fallback mode

Common causes

• Short to ground or voltage in one of the airbag deployment loops
• Faulty SRS control module
• Corroded multi-pin central restraint module plug

What to do?

Connect an advanced diagnostic scanner to pinpoint which sub-loop (driver, passenger, side, curtain) is returning the status error. Inspect the wiring pins of that specific sub-loop for physical short circuits or harness chafing against the vehicle frame.
