B2290: Occupant Classification System Error
HighBodyRestraints/Sensors
Symptoms
- Airbag warning lamp illuminated
- Passenger side deployment logic default disabled
Common causes
- Faulty front passenger seat pressure sensor or module
- Wiring mismatch or poor ground connection underneath the passenger seat
- Recent deep interior cleaning or heavy weight causing sensor deformation
What to do?
Check under-seat wiring for loose connections. Use a scan tool to view real-time live data from the Occupant Classification System module to see if weight registers. Perform a zero-point recalibration procedure. If the weight remains static or errant, replace the OCS sensor pad.
