B2292: Seatbelt Pretensioner Circuit Malfunction

HighBodyRestraints/Seatbelt

Symptoms

  • SRS system light stays lit
  • Pretensioners fail self-test sequence upon startup

Common causes

  • High resistance in the seatbelt pretensioner circuit
  • Corroded wiring plug connections underneath the front seats
  • Damaged seatbelt retractor assembly containing the explosive squib

What to do?

Examine the yellow wiring connections underneath the affected seat. Disconnect, clean the metal contact pins with specialized contact cleaner, re-seat securely, and clear the fault codes. If the code returns, measure squib resistance (must match factory specifications, typically 2-3 ohms).
