Why do you need an OBD2 Ford scan tool?

OBD technology, particularly its second iteration—OBD2—is the most advanced system in the realm of vehicle diagnostics. This technology not only offers a window into the car's operational status but also allows, in some cases, for the reprogramming or "coding" of vehicle functions, tailoring its operations to suit specific needs or preferences.

Ford OBD2 technology provides valuable insights into your vehicle's health and performance, empowering you to take control like never before. On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) serves as a critical bridge connecting to a vehicle's Electronic Control Units (ECUs), integral to modern automotive technology. In today’s vehicles, numerous control units are interlinked via a data line, creating a cohesive network that enables the seamless exchange of information across various systems.

What does Carista OBD2 Bluetooth Scanners and Diagnostic Software offer for my Ford?

*Exact feature availability depends on the exact model and vehicle equipment. Check your car model and generation here.

Basic OBD2 Diagnostics:

Carista shows you invaluable data for some of the most common generic trouble codes that scare every car owner such as the Check Engine light, coolant temperature, oil pressure and a lot more. By interpreting these Ford codes correctly, you can make informed decisions about necessary repairs, potentially saving time and money on unnecessary service visits. The detailed DTC descriptions our user-friendly App provides bring you one step further to better and quicker pinpointing serious technical issues.

Advanced Ford Diagnostics With Carista EVO OBD2

Advanced diagnostics are accessible exclusively through Carista EVO. They offer an in-depth look at manufacturer-specific trouble codes with just a single click, revealing complex technical issues that could pose serious problems if not addressed promptly. With Carista EVO, you can regularly monitor the performance of critical safety systems such as the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), airbags, brakes, transmission and more. You do not want to lose precious time wondering what might be the reason behind those warning lights. With our App, you can fully scan and reset the disturbing alerts on your dashboard.

Ford Freeze Frame Data With Carista EVO OBD2

When a fault causes a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to be triggered, the OBD2 system captures and stores data that displays various sensor and system conditions at that specific moment, which is also referred to as Freeze Frame Data. FFD is a crucial component of modern automotive troubleshooting as it offers a more in-depth understanding of the reasons behind vehicle faults. Exclusively accessible through our advanced Carista EVO Scanner, our Freeze Frame Data can provide details such as the severity level of the problem, the precise time the code was identified, the exact mileage of the vehicle at the time of the fault recording, and more.

For instance, if a vehicle's engine light comes on due to a misfire, the freeze frame data might show that the misfire happened at high RPMs and with a specific engine load. This can suggest specific test conditions under which you can more accurately replicate and diagnose the problem.

Ford Live Data With Carista EVO OBD2

*Exact live data tools availability depends on the exact model and vehicle equipment. Check your car model and generation here.

Our extensive list of live data tools tells the current performance of some important Ford systems. You can get a full view of what is going on under the hood and act on time before a minor issue becomes a headache for you. Check what are the main benefits of our live data tools:

  • Vehicle Mileage Information: If you are looking to buy a second-hand car this live data can show 100% accurate mileage info in real time so you can avoid potential odometer fraud. You will need to compare the reading our tool shows you and the ones on the dashboard, if there is a huge difference with thousands of km this might indicate that the mileage was reversed.

  • Engine Data and Engine Turbo Data: Engine live data offers a window into the heart of your car, allowing you to monitor parameters such as engine speed, engine load, coolant temperate and more so that you can detect any potential severe problems. Taking it a step further, engine turbo live data specifically caters to vehicles equipped with turbochargers, providing detailed metrics on engine torque, intake manifold pressure and more.

  • Car Battery Info: Whether you want to check the current health of your battery or you need to register a new one, Carista can show you its charge level and voltage and other readings which are critical for the overall car battery performance.

  • Exhaust System Info: It refers to real-time information about the exhaust system of a vehicle, particularly focusing on emissions and the state of components like the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors. It plays a significant role in the overall performance, economy, and ecological footprint of the vehicle.

  • HVAC Live Data: It is of great importance to control the ongoing status of your A/C system throughout every season and its various components that are in charge of bringing comfort and improving the air quality. Better avoid any unwanted situation of an inoperative system/sensors.

  • Service Interval Info: Regular oil maintenance is one of the most crucial procedures of Ford's maintenance that ensures proper vehicle performance. Service interval live data is particularly useful for optimizing the timing of service intervals based on actual readings, rather than just adhering to a fixed schedule.

  • Wheel speed live data: Keeping track of it helps monitor and improve vehicle safety, stability, and efficiency, especially of driving assistance systems such as ABS, VSC, ESP, TPMS and other traction systems that use these sensors to detect wheel speed. Detect a faulty sensor on time and avoid unwanted scenarios on the road.

Where is my Ford OBD port located?

The location of the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port in a Ford vehicle can vary slightly depending on the model and year of your car. However, most OBD ports are typically found in the following areas:

  • Under the Dashboard: Most commonly, the OBD port is located under the dashboard on the driver's side. It can be near the steering column, close to the center console, or near the driver's side door.

  • Near the Fuse Box: In some models, the OBD port might be positioned near the fuse box, which could also be under the dashboard or by the footwell on the driver's side.

  • Beside the Ashtray or Center Console: Less commonly, the port might be located near the center console, possibly behind a panel or drawer like the ashtray.

  • The easiest way to locate your Ford's OBD port is to check the vehicle owner’s manual, which typically has a diagram showing where to find the port. Additionally, you can look for a rectangular-shaped port that's about 2 inches wide, which is usually not covered but may have a protective cap over it.
