C1717: OBD-II code C1717 flags an open circuit at the right front damper actuator — the RSS module sees no continuity to drive the damper solenoid.

Symptoms

• The 'Service Ride Control' warning is displayed and right front damping reverts to a default fixed level.
• The right front corner behaves as a passive damper because no current can flow through the actuator.
• On some vehicles the RSS module disables adaptive control on all four corners while the fault is active.

Common causes

• A broken or unplugged right front damper actuator connector, common after strut replacement without reclipping.
• An internally open damper actuator solenoid coil that no longer conducts current.
• Damaged wiring between the RSS module and the actuator with an open break in the drive path.

What to do?

Disconnect the right front damper actuator and measure resistance across its pins — most healthy actuators read 4-10 Ω. Infinite resistance means an open coil. Confirm the connector is fully seated and the wiring back to the RSS module is intact. Replace the actuator or repair the harness.
